The Petrochemicals Sector produces and sells cracker products, such as ethylene and propylene, and organic chemicals derived from them, including acetyls and allyl alcohol. Thus, the sector serves as a base business, supporting the growth of Showa Denko.

At our Oita Complex, the main manufacturing base with a naphtha cracker, we provide raw materials to various companies that produce plastics, synthetic rubber, and styrene monomer, achieving a good supply-demand balance. We aim to establish our site as one of the most competitive complexes in Asia through strategic reorganization of the cracker and diversification of feedstock ahead of competitors. We are meeting the needs of our customers by utilizing an infrastructure that includes our large Oita site, an abundant industrial water supply, and excellent port facilities, as well as a location close to the fast-growing East Asian and Chinese economies.

We are expanding our acetyl and allyl alcohol operations, utilizing our leading catalyst technology. In particular, we have secured a top-level ethyl acetate production capacity in Asia based on our two plants, one each in Oita and Indonesia. We aim to further enhance the competitiveness of our derivatives business by producing acetyls and allyl alcohol from our ethylene, and providing products and services that fulfill our customers’ requirements.
