Company History

1969		Established as a joint venture between Showa Aluminum Ltd. of Japan and Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation of USA.
1970		Oyama plant constructed.
1971		Start of production of 350ml can bodies marked production of first aluminum can in Japan.
1973		Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation withdrew ownership in Showa Aluminum Can.
1973		Construction of Hikone Plant.
1976		Start of production of 500ml can bodies.
1981		Start of production of 250ml can bodies.
1988		Construction of Technical Center building.
1989		Construction of Hikone plant#2.
1993		Construction of new office building (Oyama plant).
1995		Construction of test facility (Technical center). Construction of sub-plant at Oyama plant site. Incorporation of Showa Aluminum Can Recycling Center ,Ltd.
1997		Construction of Omuta plant.
2001		Start of production of slim can.
2008		Start of production of Super End®.
