SDK to Establish CSR Committee and CSR Office

Showa Denko K.K. (SDK) will establish a CSR Committee and a CSR Office on July 1 to strengthen its corporate social responsibility activities.

The CSR Committee will discuss, decide and implement the basic CSR policy and comprehensive measures for the SDK Group. The Committee will be composed of the Management Committee members and chaired by the President & CEO.

Meanwhile, the CSR Office will have the following responsibilities:

  • 1.Planning of basic CSR policy and comprehensive measures to ensure sustainable development of the SDK Group.
  • 2.Collection, analysis and evaluation of CSR-related information; Planning of specific measures by establishing goals and clarifying major issues.
  • 3.Judgement of the progress in CSR activities; Coordination among the Group companies, sharing of information, and giving education to improve the quality of the activities
  • 4.Control of Group-wide CSR activities; Publication of their results
  • 5.Assistance to the management; Serving as the secretariat for the CSR Committee

In addition to full-time members, the CSR Office will have an advisory staff consisting of general managers of specialized staff functions. Respective business sectors and regional offices of the Group will appoint their own personnel in charge of CSR activities.
