Showa Denko K.K. (SDK) will establish an Internal Control Promotion Office on August 1 to meet the new legal requirements for internal control over financial reporting.

The internal control system will be applicable to SDK as from the financial year ending December 31, 2009.

The Internal Control Promotion Office will be responsible for assessing the effectiveness of internal control and disclosing the results to outside. The unit will also be responsible for maintaining appropriate levels of internal control.

To ensure the objectivity of internal control assessment, the Internal Control Promotion Office will be operated independently of business activities to be assessed, and under the direct supervision of President & CEO.
