Showa Denko Group's Technological Lineage

Showa Denko was established in 1939 through the merging of Showa Fertilizers, which was the first company to manufacture ammonia through the use of domestic technologies in Japan, and Nihon Electrical Industries, which was the first company to begin the commercial production of aluminum in Japan.

The Showa Denko Group began its technological development by focusing on the future possibilities of electrochemistry, which uses the power of water, one of Japan’s most important resources.

Based on electrochemistry, the Showa Denko Group has been developing technologies from metal materials, and inorganic and organic chemistry, and through the use of these technologies, the Group now supplies materials and components to the information communication and automobile industries, and also delivers a range of products that are indispensable to people’s lives.
